The collaboration grew out of working and playing specifically in Cheonggyecheon of Seoul, where the breathless speed of third world industrialization left its worn out veins in the midst of gentrifying city. We have sensed inside those obscure dying organs, the resonance of rhythm that far exceeds in strength and beauty than any planned algorisms, still pulsating circumvented energy that would ameliorate the anxiety of life in the industrialized world.

Our aesthetic forms are descriptions and creations of intricate and strange structures upholding the twilight. Our productions will be visions of the place we want to live in. Our attraction to the landscape provides us with a specific point of puncture that sparks a flow of meaningful cross transfusion between the light and the shadow, mapping the invisible veins that entwine all beings.

The spirit of the place guides our actions, making us more comfortable with the haze that often surrounds us. Nutrients come from the ground where further rotting and fermentation of the decomposed materials take place. In the age where up rootedness is valued, we believe more radical relations disseminate at a ground level or below.

플라잉스튜디오는 디자인, 미술, 필름 등 다양한 분야의 작가들이 전문영역의 경계를 넘어 제도화되지 않은 새로운 영역을 찾는 협업조직이다. 플라잉스튜디오는 구체적인 생활 속에 숨겨진 형태와 이야기들을 찾아 내고, 온 세상의 복잡하게 착종된 삶의 순간적인 에너지를 응축하고 드러내려내며 창조한다.

우리의 협업은 서울 청계천 지역에서 작업하고 놀면서 발전되어 왔다. 청계천은 과거 삼세계 공업화의 숨막히는 속도가 남긴 피로의 흔적이 전면화되고 있는 도심 재개발 속에 닳아빠진 혈관처럼 겹쳐진 지역이다. 그렇게 죽어가는 모호한 기관들 사이에서 우리는 그 어떠한 의도적 계획보다 강하고 아름다운 생의 리듬과 공명하고, 무심히 흘러가는 에너지를 박동시켜 산업화된 세계에서도 사라지지 않는 삶의 열망을 더하곤 한다.

우리의 미학은 바로 그러한 황혼녘을 떠받치는 복잡하고 이상한 구조에 대한 것이다. 우리의 창조물은 우리가 살고 싶은 장소에 대한 비전이다. 이러한 풍경에 이끌려 간 우리는 빛과 어두움이 서로 교차하여 의미로 가득찬 섬광을 찍어내는 특별한 지점을 목도하며, 여기서 모든 존재를 엮고 있는 보이지 않는 핏줄이 밝게 드러난다.

장소의 영혼이 우리의 행위를 이끌어 주변을 자주 감싸는 안개 속에서 오히려 편안하다. 자양분은 부패된 물질이 썪고 발효되는 토양에서 비롯된다. 뿌리뽑힘이 가치있게 여겨지는 시대에 우리는 보다 근본적인 관계들이 토양에, 혹은 더 깊숙한 지하에 씨를 뿌린다고 믿는다.
