Kelvin Kyung Kun Park’s Invitation to a Peaceful City, poetically mediates on the various forms of cultural resistance and simple quotidian ways of making do, that a variety of displaced Korean villagers have made after being first displaced by the Japanese and then the US Air Force.
Park’s work sensitively speaks about the conflict that has arisen between the locals who are now tied into the economy of the base and others who still live under its shadow.
"...<평화로운 신도시의 초대>(감독 박경근)는 평택시 미국기지 확장에 대한 다큐멘터리다. 이 작품은 민감한 문제를 다루지만 쟁점을 따라가기 보다는 평택의 풍경과 사람들을 바라본다. 그곳에 살고 있는 사람들의 얘기를 따라가고, 평택이라는 공간이 지닌 기억을 묻는 작품이다. 적극적으로 논쟁을 만들어내진 않지만, 감독과 함께 카메라를 따라가다 보면, 우리가 지켜내야 하는 것이 무엇인지 분명하게 느끼게 해주는 다큐멘터리다."
